(224) CLIMACTERIC SYNDROME: LESBIANS VERSUS HETEROSEXUAL WOMEN

Abstract Objectives Climacterium is a physiological period in woman’s life, reached by both heterosexual women and lesbians. There are several difficulties associated with the transition to menopause, which referred as climacteric syndrome (CS). differences between perception of difficulties. In our study, we focus on CS Methods We assessed group 48 42 lesbians using self-assessment scale modified version Kupperman index (KI), focuses not only so-called acute (vegetative) but also part subacute (organic) symptomatology CS. used Mann-Whitney U-test evaluate results individual symptoms chose Fisher’s exact test compare percentages according severity Results Similar were found most monitored parameters, regardless sexual orientation. The important finding study that tolerate menopausal statistically significantly better have lower incidence pain during intercourse than women. Heterosexual whom no form was present KI accounted for 37.5% compared 57.1% lesbian group, mild observed 18.8 HW 31% LW, moderate severe 43.8% vs. 11.9% LW. did observe either group.
